Robert Goldberg and Mortimer Goldberg founded Air Movers in 1976 as a family owned and operated business. Having extensive experience in commercial HVAC they set out to have one of the most revered companies in the area.
They set goals of high standards and strict tolerances as to the type of business we would evolve into over the years to come.

Combined with a strong sheet metal background the company started out as three - Mort, Robert and his brother Joe. Mort headed up sales, while Robert and Joe fabricated and installed jobs 7 days a week. The company grew quickly and soon a staff, shop and field crew were added. After a few short years it was evident of the need for an in-house service department.  Having the foresight of knowing the advantages of service department, Air Movers became a full service HVAC company.

The initial years proved very demanding in a tough market for Air Movers, which bolstered solid customer relationships, many of which remain today. We believe in a personable approach to doing business. In part, our success is due to our mutual long-standing relationships with this area’s top product and equipment suppliers. Quality, personable service, and 100% customer satisfaction remains our mission.

We sustain controlled growth in the HVAC market focusing on our strengths. We are steadfast in specializing in small to medium commercial projects. Our construction division provides installations including plan & spec projects from day care facilities, churches, and retail centers to light commercial office buildings. Design/build projects are negotiated with some of the area’s foremost developers, builders, and owners, which include office/warehouse build-outs to multi-story office buildings. Our service department provides all of our installations with top shelf quality control and support that is reflected in the end result of every project we do. We continue to expand our preventative maintenance & service customer base tailored to the customers’ needs. Over the years the company structured itself for the replacement market to serve those customers with aging equipment and building upgrades, many of which today we are being called in to replace equipment we installed 20 even 30 years ago.

While working all around the Capital Beltway for decades, we found that we could better service our customers and projects if we only served the greater Northern Virginia jurisdictions. We are a Class-A licensed mechanical contractor and pride ourselves on having been a part of building Northern Virginia into what it is today.
